Stadox 100 mg capsules contain doxycycline hyclate and belong to the antimicrobial – tetracycline antibiotics group. This drug exerts a bacteriostatic effect by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria and is effective in treating a wide range of bacterial infections.
Indications: Doxycycline is used for respiratory tract infections such as chronic bronchitis, as well as infections caused by Brucella, Chlamydia, Rickettsia, and Mycoplasma. It is also indicated for acne vulgaris, pelvic inflammatory disease, syphilis, chronic prostatitis, sinusitis, and pleural effusion associated with cirrhosis or malignancies.
Administration: The drug is usually taken orally, following the physician’s recommended dosage. For better absorption and to prevent esophageal irritation, it is advised to take the capsule with a sufficient amount of water at least one hour before bedtime.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines, pregnancy, and children under 8 years due to potential tooth discoloration and bone growth delay. Concurrent use with antacids, iron supplements, and dairy products should be avoided as they reduce drug absorption.
