Biporan (generic name: Lithium Carbonate) is a mood stabilizer and an effective medication for the treatment of bipolar disorder (mania–depression). It is manufactured by Ahran Tejarat Company and is classified under antipsychotic and antimanic agents. Each Biporan tablet contains 300 mg of lithium carbonate.

This medication is also used as adjunctive therapy in certain cases of treatment-resistant depression and aggressive behavior.

Indications include the treatment and prevention of manic episodes, recurrent depression, and bipolar mood disorders. Administration should always be accompanied by regular monitoring of serum lithium levels and under medical supervision.

Contraindications include hypersensitivity to lithium, cardiac rhythm disorders, family history of Brugada syndrome, and renal diseases.

Warnings and precautions: Sudden discontinuation of the drug should be avoided. Patients with cardiac, renal, or neurological disorders should use the medication with caution. Use during pregnancy is contraindicated, and during breastfeeding, it should be used only in special cases after medical evaluation. In the event of signs of toxicity such as tremor, confusion, nausea, or decreased consciousness, the patient should seek immediate medical attention.
