Bendex contains Albendazole and is manufactured by Cipla Ltd., India, supplied in packs of 100 tablets and distributed by the same company in Iran. Bendex belongs to the group of antiparasitic and anthelmintic drugs, effective against a wide range of parasitic infestations.
Bendex acts by inhibiting glucose metabolism in parasites, leading to their gradual death. It is effective in the treatment of hydatid disease of the liver, lungs, and peritoneum, as well as ascariasis, enterobiasis (pinworm infection), hookworm infection, trichuriasis, and larval forms of Taenia solium (pork tapeworm). The drug also has a special role in the management of hydatid cysts caused by Echinococcus species.
Contraindications include hypersensitivity to albendazole or related compounds such as mebendazole, pregnancy (especially during the first trimester), and severe hepatic impairment. Use during breastfeeding should only be undertaken under medical supervision.
