Mexilran (generic name Mexiletine), produced by Ahran Tejarat, is a cardiovascular drug classified as a Class Ib antiarrhythmic. It is used for the control and prevention of cardiac arrhythmias and is available in 100 mg and 200 mg tablets.

Mechanism of Action: Mexilran stabilizes cardiac sodium channels and reduces abnormal electrical activity in the heart, helping to maintain a regular heart rhythm and prevent potentially dangerous arrhythmias.

Indications: It is prescribed for the treatment and prevention of ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias and for rhythm control in patients at risk of electrical disturbances of the heart.

Contraindications: Mexilran should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to the drug, severe heart block without a pacemaker, severe heart failure, or cardiogenic shock.

Dosage Form: The medication is supplied in boxes of 60 tablets (6 blisters of 10 tablets each). The dose and duration of treatment should be determined by a physician. Concurrent use with certain cardiac medications is recommended, along with careful monitoring of heart rhythm, to prevent serious adverse effects.
